I was fortunate to grow up in a Boston Symphony Orchestra family. My dad, Chester Schmitz, was the tubist with them for 35 years. Because of that exposure, I have always had a deep love for classical music. And it helped me more than anything in knowing what sounded good. As I became an audio engineer, I knew I wanted to record as much classical music as possible. I reached out to some orchestras in the Nashville area when I was living there, and the Nashville Philharmonic brought me to some of their performances and rehearsals, and I was able to record them live. There is nothing like the sound of a full piece orchestra playing live, and I was so thrilled to capture that.
